Tubal Ligation and Menstrual Changes: What to Expect

A few women have told me that after having their tubes tied, their monthly periods became much heavier.  Is this to be expected?

I hear many reports of a change in the menstrual cycle after tubal ligation. However, there is no objective evidence of any change. A tubal ligation is merely a mechanical blockage of each tube. It has no effect on your hormones nor increases the flow during your period.
