QuestionI am 29 years old and 16 weeks pregnant with my third child. i've not had many health problems at all. At 14 weeks, my uterine measurement was 18 and 2 weeks later at 16 weeks, I measured 25! They are sending me for a level 2 sonogram soon and say that it could be fibroids. Can fibroids grow that quickly and if so, what will I do in the last trimester?
How likely is it that it could be twins (I do have a family history on my side).
Can I still attempt a VBAC? Either way?
How would fibroids affect my pregnancy...especialy if they grow so quickly?
AnswerIf uterine measurements appear to be growing ahead of your dates, you should take a sonogram to rule out twin gestation or fibroids. If the fibroids are small and are not between the baby and the cervix, you should have no problem. If the fibroids grow very large, they may interfere with the growth of the fetus or interfere with the delivery. If so, you may not be able to have a VBAC. First find out the size of the fibroids (if any), and rule out the possibility of twins.
