Pregnancy Concerns: Cervical Issues & Hyperemesis at 23+ Weeks

Question
Hi, I am 33 years old. This is my 5th pregnancy and I have one 7 year old boy. I have had one abortion, one blighted ovum and one miscarriage.

I am currently 23+ weeks pregnant. During this pregnancy, I have suffered from severe Hyperemesis till week 18 and have subsequently had to have a precautionary cervix stitch put in once my cervix was down to 2.6.

Here are my questions. I apologize in advance for the number but I am sure you will appreciate the anxiety of a 5 time pregnant woman:

1.   I am not on bed rest following the stitch. I have been asked to avoid lifting weight and constipation and not have sex?. Is this enough (I have not had any bleeding)?
2.   I inadvertently have been eating cold cuts and recently ate feta cheese. (I did not know that I was to avoid these) Am I in serious trouble? How can I ensure that everything is fine and I have not contracted an infection?
3.   My baby at 23 weeks moves sporadically, i.e. I feel her one day and not during the next or longer. Is this normal and when I should worry?

I really appreciate your time on this.
Regards
Payal

Answer
As long as you are not having contractions, you do not have to be on bedrest. However, I would follow up on the cervical length by serial sonograms to make sure that    the cervix does not get short.  Don't worry about the cold cuts. We only  worry about the salt content . If  your blood pressure is O.K. you need not worry. I would avoid the feta cheese, but don't worry about any you ate in the past.It is doubtful that you contracted any infection.  Fetal movement starts at around 22 weeks. After that, you should start to feel more and  more fetal movement. Be patient. Don't worry.
