Light Bleeding & Positive Pregnancy Test: What Could It Mean?

Question
I am 18 and I have no children my last menstrual period was march 21, 2006.  I have had a light spotting and am worried?

Answer
If your last period started on March 21, then you would have ovulated around April 3 and could have become pregnant if you had sex on April 2,3,4, or 5. If you did become pregnant, a pregnancy test would not show a positive result until 14-21 days later (after April 16). The best time to take a pregnancy test would be seven days after you miss your next period. Even if you had a positige pregnancy test, if you do not get your  next period by April 17, wait until April 24 and repeat the pregnancy test. If it is still positive, you are pregnant. Light spotting is perfectly normal in early pregnancy, unless it is heavy with cramping.
