Postpartum Period: When Will My Period Return After Delivery?

Hi Brenda,

I gave birth to a baby boy on sept. 22nd 2006 and am breastfeeding.

My concern is that I have not still had any period.

Is this normal or should I talk to my doctor.

Dear Preeti,

It is very normal not to have your period while breastfeeding. It is nature's own type of birth control after having a baby.

When you begin to wean or supplement, it will be important to make sure you know that you will not be protected from pregnancy at that time. Sometimes ovulation occurs before you actually see a period and that puts you at risk to conceive.
