QuestionHi, I am 22 years old and I have 3 children ranging in ages from 5 to 1 1/2. Last year I made the decision to have my tubes tied, I wanted them to be cut and burned, but only recently I discovered that the insurance I had wouldn't cover it, so they were only tied. I have started to have familar pregnancy symptoms. Mostly a very odd period, for 3 months they have only been anywhere from a day to an hour long. last month I was diagnosised with a unterine infection, and was told it was probably the culprit to my disfunctional periods. Well, its been awhile and I am no longer on the antibiotics, yet the symtoms seem to be there, and are more pronounced. I guess my question would be is how likely is it that I could be pregnant? And, if I am, and its tubal, which I have heard is more likely, is there any signs I should be watching out for?
Thank You.
AnswerIf you have missed a period, you could be pregnant. However, if your periods have come every month, you are not pregnant even if you only bleed for an hour. A tubal ligation is almost 100% effective even if they were not cut but only tied. I doubt that you are pregnant. Take a pregnancy test and you will know for sure. If the test is positive and you have excrutiating pain on one sode or the other, your doctor should get a sonogram to see if a tubal pregnancy can be ruled out.
