QuestionI'm 30 years old, never been pregnant. I am currently on the Ortho Novum Ring. The Ring is supposed to stay chilled, but traveled with it so i would have it for insertion, so it wasn't always in the frig. I started my last period on Oct.23. Today (Nov. 6) felt nauseous and threw up several times for no reason. ate something afterwards and felt better, although still slightly nauseous. throwing up for me is very unusual. Had sex with my fiance, November 2 & 4.
Do you think its possible I am pregnant, and should i take out the ortho-novum ring i currently have in -- is it possible for it to damage a fetus?
Thanks,
AnswerI doubt that you are pregnant. If your last period started on October 23, the earliest you would have ovulated (if you did not have the ring in place) would have been November 5 and you could only have conceived if you had unprotected sex on November 4,5,6, or 7. However, if you had the ring in place (even if it was warm) the chances of pregnancy are less than 0.1%. Certainly, if you do not get your period by November 19, wait an additional week and take a pregnancy test. Do not remove the ring. Even if you were pregnant, there is no danger or damage to a fetus as long as you stop using birth control by the beginning of the second trimester (13 weeks). Don't worry.
