PCOS, Period Irregularities & Ovarian Cysts: Seeking Medical Advice
QuestionI was wondering if you would answer a Gyn question. I am a 25 y.o. G2P2. I was diagnosed with PCOS after my first child. I haven't had a period since 1/26/06 and have had several negative pregnancy tests. My doctor used Provera to induce a period and it didn't work. I am experiencing a lot of pelvic pain so he sent me for a trans vag ultrasound which revealed a rather large cyst filled with blood on my ovary. There is also a question of endometriosis. My question is, what do you think the next step should be? Should I opt for laproscopy, or should I opt for alternative management. Also, I have experience some "leaking" of urine since my last pregnancy. Could he fix that while he was in there?
AnswerDuring your reproductive years, being on birth control pills may manage the PCOS. In order to determine whether surgery could help your incontinence , you should be seen by a urogynecologist. I wish I could be more specific for you, but there are a lot of factors. Many cysts like yours will go away on their own. You may want multiple opinions before going under the knife. Best of luck
