QuestionMy daughter is 30 years old and has seen many specialists who have all agreed that she could not concieve due to severe PCOD. She has been really tired lately and since she works in the hospital, managed to get a pregnancy test done. It came back with hcg levels of 190,000. Wow what a shock! Now her doc can't get her in for three weeks. How far along would that type of hcg indicate. She is on everything fro B/P meds to anti-depressants. Should she move along to a different OB? She is worried.
AnswerHi Jerri,
funny how the doctors say someone can never get pregnant and here they are, right?
Congrats to you and your daughter by the way.
She needs to be seen by an OB soon.
As far as how far along that level of Hcg could indicate; hard to say: if it is multiples the time frame could be less because a multiple pregnancy produces way more HcG. Did I read right, 190,000???????
If it is a normal pregnancy Id say at least a couple of months! I do not know if PCOS causes HcG to rise, that would definitely be a question for her doctor.
So, yes I would definitely get her in to be seen because they need to check for multiples in there, AND they need to make sure her meds are going to be manageable with a pregnancy. Possibly even a high-risk doctor if there is one available in your town. with an HcG that high I would not be surprised if it is twins. (but again I am not a doctor so this is just a guess!) Maybe her OB can get her in on a cancellation list??? I would do my best to get her seen before 3 weeks for sure. She needs to be monitored because of the PCOS and meds.
Good luck! And congratulations.
