Pregnancy Journey: Tracking Symptoms & Positive Test After Cycle Changes
QuestionOk, so I have been trying to get pregnant since coming off of birth control in oct 07. Had a period then and in november. I haven't had one since. Went to my dr in january and march, both times did a urin test and was negative. She put me on prometrium on march 5 for 10 days. Tested with home pregnancy test on march 22 and got a positive. Have done 2 more, all positives. Starting about the same time I have been nausated, tired, going pee like crazy, crampy, and constipated. Yesterday my middle back started hurting. Do you think I am around 6 weeks or further along? My first appointment since finding out I am pregnant isn't until april 14. It is driving me crazy waiting!
AnswerDear Holly,
Typically women are at least three weeks along when they get a positive on a home pregnancy test. If you got a positive on 3/22 for the first time, I would suspect you are at least 4 weeks, 3 days today, but I cannot tell you any more definitively than that based on your menstrual history. Irregular periods usually indicate an ovulation problem. Prometrium induces bleeding and in that way can stimulate a regular menstrual cycle to begin. If you absolutely know you did not conceive prior to taking the Prometrium, the most likely conception date was probably around 3/15. You will know more when you have your initial OB visit and/or dating ultrasound.
I hope this has helped you and answered your question. I wish you well and congratulations!
