Pregnancy Risk with Pre-Ejaculation: What You Need to Know
QuestionI was reading one of the e-mails titled. "can my girlfriend get pregnant from dried sperm?" because i am in a similar situation. my boyfriend was explaining the pre-ejaculation fluid and i read that it may contain sperm. well he said that occured maybe two hours before penetration. He said everything down there was dry and before i was penetrated he was rubbed down there with lotion. and he did pull out before ejaculating so i dont think i have a whole lot to worry about. i am still going to go get checked and everything. I am interested in the comment made about a woman only being able to get pregnant during the 14-16th day of her cycle. i was just wondering how accurate this is. i thought it could happen anytime and there are only certain times where it is much more likely. i was just wondering if i could hear a little bit more on this issue. thank you for your time. hope to hear back soon.
AnswerIf you have a 28 day cycle (from the first day of your period until the first day of your next period) ovulation occurs on cycle day #14. However, if you have a longer or shorter cycle than 28, ovulation will occur earlier or later in your cycle. An average cycle is 28 weeks. Therefore most women ovulate on cycle day #14. You can ONLY conceive if you have unprotected sex on cycle day #13,14,15, or 16. There are around 300,000 sperm at the tip of the uterus prior to ejaculation. When he tries to withdraw from your vagina prior to ejaculation these sperm can be "milked" out of the penis and you can become pregnant if it is at the correct time of the month.Once you ovulate, you cannot become pregnant The sperm can live for 12-24 hours and the egg can remain viable for 24-48 hours.
