Understanding BPP Results & Amniotic Fluid Levels During Pregnancy

Question
date of my last period was sept 20th 2005.
I'm 35 weeks pregnant, and i had had a BPP done in april they found that my amniotic fluid level was generous 5 cm more than normal. I went back on may 4th and the fluid level did not go up anymore and the baby was shown with fluid in the kidneys and bladder. After i talked to the doctor on site at the ultrasound, not my regular doctor he said the baby is head down everything looks good, and you don't need a ultrasound again unless your doctor requests it. Now today i went to the doctor and he wants another BPP done, and my question is is this a normal procedure in late pregnancy, or is there something my doctor isn't telling me is there something wrong? please help thankyou

Answer
A biophysiczl profile is very commonly performed in order to reassure us that all is well with the baby. If the results are 8 out of 8, this is a reauring test. If the results are less than 7 our ot 8, the baby should be delivered. It does not mean anything is wrong  just because your doctor repeats any test. The doctor would tell  you if there is any problem. Don't owrry. At this stage of pregnancy, an amniotic fluid index of 5 more than normal (25 ) is fine.
