Concerned About Potential Pregnancy After Condom Issue - Options & Resources

Question
I was having sex with my boyfriend and we used a condom but when he pulled out it was almost off. It was a little above the tip and I'm terrified i could be pregnant. I am not on birth control. We don't know how long it was almost off but he said he ejaculated a few times. If I am pregnant I think I will choose abortion because we're in college so we can't raise a baby. I now want to be on the pill, where do I go for this? Where are abortions done?

Answer
Dear Breanna,

Thanks for your question. First of all, slow down and try not to stress. Being stressed and worried can make your period not come and then you will wonder if you are pregnant or not worse than ever. Try to take a deep breath and wait until you find out for sure if you are pregnant before you panic and make decisions.

First of all, you don't even know for sure if you are pregnant at this time. You didn't say when this happened but you can get a free pregnancy test. Contact a local pregnancy center and ask when you can get the free test. Go to http://www.optionline.org or call 1-800-395-HELP. Then contact the closest center and get free and confidential advice. You didn't say your age but you don't have to tell anyone at this time what is going on (unless you want to).

Oh, I see that you are in college. Ok, about the pill, I don't recommend that because there are hormones in the pills and that can cause risks and side effects to your health. Please research that carefully before deciding. Also, you don't need to worry about an abortion right now because you don't even know for sure if you are pregnant.

But you could research abortion to find out all the risks and side effects from that, as well. I have worked with women for over 20 years and every woman I counseled came to me because she was suffering from having an abortion. So I can't recommend abortion at all. If you want more info about this, I can talk to your privately. Just email me at CHERYL51@aol.com and put ALLEXPERTS in the subject line of your email.

Hope to hear from you soon as I have lots more to talk to you about but have limited resources on here.

Sincerely,
Diane Cheryl
