Understanding Hormonal Changes & Relationship Challenges in Pregnancy
QuestionMy girlfriend is currently six months pregnant. We were in a long distance relationship before the pregnancy and only saw each other 2 times a month. I have recently transferred my job to her city to be here for her and the baby. When I showed up last week to move in to her house, she said she wasnt ready for this yet and I should find an apartment because she wanted to take it slow. After convincing her to let me stay for a couple of days to try to see if this could work out, she broke up with me and said she doesnt see a future with me and that she no longer has feelings for me like before. She said she has no reason why the feelings arent there anymore. I suggested it may just be a hormone thing and we should wait and try to work it out. She denied it and now I am living out of a hotel. In addition to the pregnancy she also has a lot going on in her life including teaching, coaching a high school basketball team, and completing her masters degree all at the same time. My question is this: Should I be concerned that these feelings are true, or is it likely that these are hormones causing this? And in the meantime, should I continue to stay out of her hair and stay at the hotel, or should I commit to a year lease at an apartment?
AnswerYou did not mention the date of the first day of her last peeriod, which is required according to my instructions. Hormone levels can alter mood but rarely have such a profound effect. I would stay our of hair and stay at the hotel until you know what is going on.
