QuestionHi,
My sister had chickenpox for the last two weeks (approximately 15 days), and now curing. During her disease she had taken Acyclovir Tablets as per the prescription given by her doctor. Now she realized she is 3 weeks pregnant and the test shown positive.
Now, everyone is shaken and recommending her to abort the baby, since that medication could that she had taken might give bad results to the baby. However, the Gynecologist who checked her did not give any comment on abortion.
Could you please give any advice in this regard? We are absolutely against abortion at any mean. Meanwhile, if it is absolutely required for the safety of mother and child we do not have another option.
Please reply as soon as possible.
Thanks
Vincy
AnswerHello. What a terrible ordeal. I urge her to talk openly to your OBGYN about all risks.
The good news is often things taken that early in pregnacy does not hurt.
The problem with my response is medications is not my "expertise" .
You may want to ask this to a pharmacist who would know all the details on the medicine.
Good luck to you.
