Understanding Newborn Fevers: Causes and What to Do

My brother's wife just had her baby but the doctor told them the baby boy had fever. Can you tell me what could have caused this. Please I am really worried answer me ASAP!

There are numerous reasons why the baby coul have a fever. Typically, a fever is a result of a viral or bacterial infection.  Without seeing the baby, I can't give you a specific cause for the fever.  Take comfort in the fact that if the doctor thought it were truly an emergency, the baby would be hospitalized right now.  I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help to you.  Good luck!
