Irregular Periods After Birth Control: What Could It Mean?
QuestionOkay i'm 20 years old. when I was younger (11-15) my period was normal but than all of a sudden my period stopped it was for years. so My doctor then gave me some birth control pills to balance my hormones this past April of 2006. I than got my period on the 1st- 7th of May. It was really heavy. And than on June I got it on the 1st-7th again. and it was pretty normal. But I got my period again in June on the 15th-22nd once again it was normal. I stopped taking my pills mid june though. and my husband and I at that time were having unprotected sex about 6 times a week until July 5. and now I haven't gotten my period. wel I took a pregnancy test on the 15th of this month July and it came out negative so does that mean I'm not pregnant? It was one of those eqaute HPT.
I'm always feeling tired and i urinate more than i usually do and i get dizzy. so can I be pregnant?
AnswerHi Kimberly,
You certainly could be pregnant and it was just too early to test, or your body may just be adjusting to hormone changes. It is impossible to tell based on the irregularity of your periods. The best thing to do would be to wait another day or two and test again. Use the "First Response" home pregnancy test. If it is negative and you still don't get your period, have your doctor send you for some bloodwork to confirm pregnancy. Good luck and I hope this helps!
