Understanding Blood Tests in Early Pregnancy: Rh Factor & More
QuestionHi, I've recently taken a hpt with a positive result and i'm have an appointment with my obgyn to get the bloodwork done. I have been doing some broad reading and have a question that hopefully you can answer. I'm wondering if the blood test will test to see if i'm RH negative, is this somthing that is normally checked and will show up on my test results? I would assume that it would, and i am probably just being paranoid, but I want to cover all the bases. Thank you for your time.

AnswerHi Linsey,
Your doctor will order what is called an obstetric panelfor bloodwork. That will give your blood type, rh factor (whether you are Rh- or not) and all sorts of other important things such as hepatitis B immunity. So, you will know if you are Rh- early in your pregnancy. Good luck!
