Finger Prick Cholesterol Tests: Accuracy & Reliability

Question
Could you please tell me whether blood drawn from pricking a finger will give will give just as reliable a cholesterol test result as blood drawn into a vial from the arm? Thank you very much. Al Brown

Answer
Yes it will....  blood is blood.... if it is a reliable machine that will yield accurate results.... we have one in the office that is very good, and only requires a small amount of blood, but we do draw a tube because trying to get 5 drops of blood out is a problem sometimes.

Hope this helps...
