MY QUESTION:
Im 38, just got married and just started trying..Got last period on May
1st (which was early!) I am ALWAYS on time, get period around 6-7 of
month. My wedding was April 30th and got period May 1st! Strange, but
it was a normal period. We had sex just about everyday May 12-19th.
Its now June 9th and no period. I am NEVER late. Not sure if I was now
due on the 1st or back to the 6-7th, but I waited and took a pregnancy
test yesterday, June 8th.. It was NOT PREGNANT.First Response Test. I
have no pregnancy symptoms, but gasy, bloated feeling. Could it have
happened so soon? I thought being older, it would take longer, but the
test was Negative? Any insight or advice would be great. Thank you
for your time!
AnswerI'm sorry but I received another question around an hour before that is verbatim to your question. The patient was 38 years usually has her period on the 6th or 7th every month. She started her period on May 1, got married on April 30, had sex everday from May 12-19 A pregnancy test was negative on June 8. She has no sympt oms of pregnancy.
In any case, If your last period s tarted on May 1, you would not have ovulated until around May 14. If you usually get your period on the 6 or 7 of the month, then I assume that your last period started on April 6 or 7. This gives you a 31 day cycle (from the first day of one period to the first day of your next period. If you period in April start on April 6, then your next period was due on May 4 and it can always start a little earlier. The best time to take a pregnancy test is seven days after missing your next period. You are due for your period around June 2, so a pregnancy test whould be taken on June 8 should be accurate. If it was negative, I would suggest that you take two blood tests for pregnancy (Beta HCG) 48 hours apart. If there is a doubling of the results in 48 hours, it indicates a viable pregnancy. If the values are both less than 6 in 48 hours, you are not pregnant. At the age of 38, as long as you get your period and ovulate, you can conceive. I would try to keep a record of the first day of each of your periods. By the way, if you get a period on the same day each month, you have a 30 day cycle and probably ovulate on cycle day #16. The day of your period can't always be the same day because some months have 30 days, some have 31 days, and one has 28 days.
