QuestionI recently went to the doctor for a check up and he gave me a call at home and told me that I was pregnant. I found it to be unlikely because I haven't had any kind of sexual encounter in 7 months. Is it possible to be 7 months pregnant and not know it?
AnswerDear Jasmine,
Did you explain this to your doctor? Have you had normal periods over the last 7 months? And did he happen to tell you what your hCG level was? That would help determine how pregnant you are. Did the doctor seem urgent about getting you into the office for a prenatal visit or for an ultrasound to determine fetal age?
There have been cases of women who have come in to the hospital with stomach pain and deliver babies who swear up and down that they had no idea they were pregnant. It is quite hard to imagine that occurring, but I will say that it has happened before.
When you say "sexual encounter", do you mean intercourse or any sexual contact at all? Pregnancy has been known to happen (though somewhat rare) from hand to genital transfer or genital rubbing when there is pre-ejaculate at the tip of the penis.
I'll be anxious to hear back as to how this turns out - please let me know! I wish you good luck!!
