37 Weeks Pregnant: Understanding Labor Progress & Timing

I am 37 weeks pregnant, 3 cm dialated and over 50% effaced and have been having contractions for a couple of weeks now. How much longer will I be waiting at the maximum

I understand how you feel, nearing the end of a pregnancy seems like an eternity!

Unfortuently, even though you have had change in your body, this doesnt indicate an exact time. You could go into labour tomorrow, or you could go 4 weeks from now. There is absolutely no way of knowing, infact its a guessing game.

Keep in mind, that first time moms to be can go overdue by 1 week, sometimes 2 weeks depending on the doctor. Its not uncommon for this to happen.

If this is your second baby, I am more inclined to say that you will probably go within 2 weeks. However, dont take what I say to heart, because it could easily happen the other way. you could have that baby tomorrow, or 4 weeks from now!

My first baby, I was 42 weeks. I was induced, and ended up having a c-section. For my second baby, they said I would probably go at 39 weeks because I was 4 cms, and 40% effaced. Well my son was born at 42 weeks, like his sister, via c-section. So as you can see, its very difficult to predict.

I will wish a good thought, that you go into labour sooner , then later.
