Early Pregnancy Concerns: Symptoms and Potential Risks

Question
I just found out on 2/10 that I'm pregnant. The date of when my period last started was 1/10. A week and a half ago I had gotten a yeast infection and treated it with the one day treatment and it cleared up. Then a few days later I got a really bad cold and took for several days DayQuil & once took NyQuil. Then, to top it off, last night I went out with some of my girl friends and had two rounds of drinks. If I had known I was pregnant I would have not done or used any of these items, but now I'm EXTREMELY nervous and concerned on whether these things may have endangered or harmed my baby already. I'm so stressed right now and worried I'm may have caused damage without even knowing. PLEASE HELP!

Answer
Cassandra,

This happens VERY often. Many women go on about their daily lives and ingest things like cold medicines or alcohol before they become aware that they are pregnant. Try not to fret about this. Most often they go on to have perfectly healthy pregnancies/babies.

There is absolutely nothing you can do about it and you have already said it isn't something you wouldn't have done if you had known, which tells me you'll be very aware of how you manage the rest of your pregnancy. Most often if problems occur with the baby it is due to prolonged exposure to a substance - not a one- or two-time occurrence.

Try to relax. I hope this helps to ease your mind. I wish you an enjoyable and uneventful pregnancy. Be well!
