Understanding Natural Labor Induction: What You Need to Know

Question
what can i do to go in labor early?

Answer
Dear Nakecia,

It would depend on how early... and really there is nothing that you yourself can do that will absolutely induce labor unless that baby is ready to be born. Nature has a way of protecting the baby until it can safely be born unless there is trauma or some other physical reason that will not allow the woman's body to keep the baby safe inside the womb.

IF you are more than 38-39 weeks - and are ABSOLUTELY certain of the dating of the pregnancy - you can try the following:
*WALKING - Walking allows your hips to sway side to side, which will help bring the baby into position to be born. Also, by standing upright, you're using gravity to move the baby down into the pelvis.
*SEX - Sex is one of the things you can do to get your labor under way. When you and your partner have sex, his semen (which contains prostaglandins) can stimulate contractions.
*CASTOR OIL - For decades, women have been using castor oil to help induce labor. You can take 1 to 4 ounces of castor oil mixed with 6 ounces of orange juice to cut its oiliness. You'll want to drink it quickly because of the unpleasant taste. Keep in mind that castor oil usually will cause your bowels to empty within about three hours.

Any of these things can be done to possibly make you have contractions and start your labor, but they'll only work if your body is ready. Make sure not to over-do any method to induce labor. The uterus can become hyperstimulated, meaning that it'll get too little rest between contractions. This can cause the baby to receive less oxygen, resulting in slowing of the fetal heart rate. Try to be patient - the last few weeks of pregnancy seem like forever, but rushing things may only result in a less than perfect scenario for you and/or your baby.

I hope this has helped you and answered your question. I wish you well.
