Questioni went to the doctor because i knew i was pregnant. by the date of my last period i should be 9 weeks. The sonogram showed that the fetus had stopped growing and had no heartbeat and was only six weeks (by measurements) my question is why am i still getting morning sickness and will i miscarry on my own or do i have to get a D&C?? Im not bleeding as of yet..but i have had light cramping, but not alot...i just found all of this info out 3 days ago..please help!!
AnswerDear Anna,
The symptoms of pregnancy, such as the nausea, may continue for a bit because they are induced by your hormone levels. Your hormone levels are not back to a non-pregnant state yet.
With a non-viable pregnancy, the body will recognize it and eventually miscarry on its own. However, many women and doctors will opt for a D&C because the process of miscarrying may take awhile and tends to be emotionally difficult on you. In addition, many times women who miscarry end up having to have a D&C anyway if the uterus does not completely empty all contents naturally. If there are any remnants left within the uterus it is a potential source of infection. This is a completely personal decision as to which route you want to take.
I hope this information has helped you and answered your question. I am sorry to hear of your pregnancy loss. I wish you well.
