Large Blood Clots During Menstruation: Causes & Concerns
Questionhello
i want to ask question about my monthly periods.i had miscarriage about a year before after that my periods is changed.large clots in size of middle finger come out with my periods its happends only first day.please tell me whats the reason of this.can i get pregnant.
AnswerDear Abida,
Blood clots can normally occur on the heavy days of bleeding and/or cramping. Your body usually makes things called anti-coagulants that keep your blood from clotting as it moves through your vagina and out of your body. But during days of heavy bleeding and cramping, your body is pushing blood so quickly out of you that your body does not have time to release these anti-coagulants. Your blood then clots. Usually this is nothing to be concerned about unless the clots become larger than silver dollar size in diameter. The fact that you clot with your periods should have no effect on your fertility. As long as you continue to have regularly spaced periods, that would indicate ovulation is likely taking place regularly also and you can conceive.
I hope this has helped you and answered your question. I wish you well.
