QuestionI just recently had an endoscopy done and was diagnosed with gastritis and in the report is says
characterized by congestion {edema} i was wondering what that meant thamk you Rick
Answercongestion means the blood vessels are swollen and leaking fluid into the surrounding tissues (edema) This is as a result of inflammation and certain chemicals are released that makes these vessels "leaky."
When you stop the inflammation process, this will go away. Possibly by stopping motrin like drugs, or maybe adding in acid suppressing drugs like Prilosec, depending on the cause.
