Questionok wat happened was this
i had unprotected sex i think it must of been the cycle day #16, 17, 18 or a bit pass those days i'm not sure
he didn't use a condom and after he pulled it out he cummed it on the side of my vagina towards me thigh. so it was like between that area of my vagina and thigh.
which i think that's a chance it could of gotten in me.
and i think i'm close to being a day late for my period right now.
i had my period during that week of the oct 14th or 15th to the 18th or 19th.
and i had sex FOR THE FIRST TIME(yes i was a virgin) on nov 2nd.
now is nov 14, i'm suppose to have my period this weekend... or mayb even now since i don't remember when i'm suppose to have it.
so wat are the chances of me being pregnant?
any symptoms?
i did have mood swings after the first time i had sex (nov 2)
i cried a lot when i was alone after that but only when i'm alone, i try to hold it in when there's people around me.
AnswerDear Lucy,
Having your first sexual experience can be a very emotional event in and of itself. It is not just you - this is so for many others as well and it makes no difference what age your are when it happens.
Anytime you have had unprotected sex during the last cycle or two, you cannot dismiss the possibility of pregnancy.
The symptoms often associated with early pregnancy (breast tenderness, nausea, headaches, etc,...) are hormonal in nature and can also be related to hormone fluctuations within your cycle. That is why it so difficult to "diagnose" a pregnancy based on symptoms alone.
Here's some information on a woman's cycle and fertility - The average menstrual cycle is 28 days in length. Your period begins on cycle day (CD) 1, ovulation usually occurs on/about CD15, and the cycle ends on CD 28, with the next cycle starting with the onset of the next period. When ovulation occurs, the egg that is released only can survive for up to 24 hours unless fertilized. So, if your sexual encounter took place beyond 24 hours after you ovulated, the likelihood of conception would have been extremely small. On the other hand, unprotected sex which takes place within 5 days of ovulation carries with it the highest risk of conception. This is because sperm cells can survive up to five days under ideal conditions once past the cervix. They just swim around trying to find a viable egg to fertilize until they die.
Also, keep in mind that sometimes initiating sexual activity will stimulate hormones which can alter your menstrual cycle a bit. This could very well be what is happening with you.
You will need to test for pregnancy to know for sure. Although some tests claim accuracy on the first day of a missed period, I usually suggest that women wait until the week after a missed or spotty period before testing for pregnancy. This tends to minimize the incidence of false negative results and also avoids wasting money on a test for a simple delay of a period by a few days. When/if you test make sure to use 1st morning urine to get a concentrated sample for the most accurate results.
If your last period started on 10/14 and you have regular 28 day cycles, you would have been due to start your next period on/about 11/11. This would mean that you are late. I would suggest waiting another five days and testing for pregnancy. If those results are negative, you can either wait for the next cycle to see if your periods resume or have your doctor's office do a quantitative blood pregnancy test (serum beta hCG). That test will give an actual amount of hCG in your bloodstream rather than just a positive/negative result. Any amount of 25 mIU/ml or more would be considered positive for pregnancy.
Also - please try to get in the habit of marking down somewhere - a calendar, a diary, a phone log, whatever - the day you start your period every month. This will become more and more important as you get older.
I hope this has helped you and answered your question. I wish you well.
