Understanding Fading Positive Pregnancy Test Lines: What Does It Mean?
QuestionI have taken four pregnancy tests over the past three days. Three were taken midday and one was taken first thing in the morning. The first three were pink dye tests and all three came back with a light pink positive line. The one that was taken in the morning had a slightly darker line. But all clearly positive and they all appeared right away. And today I tested midday with a blue dye test and a dark blue positive appeared right away but now hours later it has faded a lot. It's a very small light line. The positive line is fading! What does this mean? Am I pregnant or not?
AnswerDear Susan,
First, I would like to apologize for the delay in answering. Unfortunately, my son required emergency surgery this past week and I have been needed as "nurse mom".
The tests are meant to be read within the time specified on the box. As time passes, the result can change. This is why you must follow the directions exactly. If the initial result was positive, then it would likely be a positive test.
I hope this has helped you and answered your question. I wish you well.
