QuestionHi,
I am 4 days postpardum from a vbac delivery with a lot of complications during during delivery (extreme abdominal pain dispite epidural use, fetal heart tones droping in 50-60's for last 10 minutes or so before vaccumm delivery, vomiting, shaking, chills, etc). Anyway, my pain hasn't gotten any better and I am now sweating like crazy and having a lot more bleeding than is usual for me (this is my 3rd childbirth) so I went to er and they found acites that they said was secondary to clot between my uterus and bladder that my doctor says is because I am so constipated since I haven't had a bowel movenment since delivery. Can constipation really cause this much abdominal pain? And how does that explain the sweating and heavy bleeding? Thank you for any help you can give me.
AnswerDear Jamie
Although it is impossible to give a solid diagnosis in your case, I can tell safely that constipation does not cause itra-abdominal bleeding. At least with my 26 years in practice.
It seems to me that you had a difficult vaginal delivery that resulted in an abdominal hematoma (collection of blood) that went unrecognized at the time of its occurence. Then it was infected. This would result in some fever, sweaing and rapid pilse.
I advise you seek a second opinion. A detailed clinical examination is a must in your cae for proper diagnosis and management. Ultasound examination woulod definitely help making the right diagnosis.
Good Luck
