Dealing with Post-Miscarriage Infertility: Understanding Your Concerns

Question
in march at 9 weeks i had a miscarriage and i want to have a baby my boyfriend and i are trying but i just keep getting disappointed with my period and now I'm starting to think that i just can't get pregnant what do you think and what should i do

Answer
Hi Toney.
I'm sorry to hear of your loss. Losing a baby can be a hearbreaking experience and it's only natural to want to get pregnant again as soon as possible.

The first thing I will say is that you obviously can get pregnant! The second is, be kind to yourself. Your body (physically & mentally) has been through a lot and it can take months for it to get back to normal. Because of the biological up set, doctors say to allow at least 3 months before trying again.
Lets break this down, assuming your miscarriage was the 1st March:

Miscarriage in March
Wait 3 months takes you to June
June, July, August, September means you have been through 4 cycles at the most.

It takes the average couple 12 months to concieve, so please don't worry.

Stress doesn't help and they do say the harder you try, the less likely you are to catch.
My advice is to stop trying, have fun and enjoy yourself with your partner and see what happens. Doctors won't investigate until you've been trying for 12 months, so see how you get on.

In the meantime look after yourself, take folic acid and eat well. Give up smoking and keep alcohol to a minimum.

I wish you the best of luck  :0)
