Complete Blood Count (CBC) Test: What It Measures & What to Expect
Questionwhat in the CBC test?
what in a CBC w/differental & w/o differental
what in a CBC manual conten
AnswerHi, William. CBC stands for Complete Blood Count. There are several different parts to this test. The CBC checks all aspects of two types of cells, RBC (Red Blood Cells) and WBC (White Blood Cells). For RBC, the CBC checks the number of cells, the hemoblobin/hematocrit content, and checks the size and shapes of the RBC. For WBC, the checks the percentage of different types of WBC. This is called the differential. Sometimes a doctor may order a CBC without a differential. A CBC manual count is manually counted (by looking under a microscope) by the technician or pathologist. Normally if a manual count is not ordered, a machine will count the cells. Hope this helps!
