Question"I am 27 years old lady from India. In February, 2008 I got married. I am having hormonal treatment fromm last 12 years. I am the patient of hypogonadotropic hypogonadism. I got period only after taking pills for hormones. Now I consulted IVF centre and the Dr of IVF centre suggest me to take progynova and meprate for 3 months presumably for preparation of my endometrium and uterus. After that she will plan the induction. Is this is the right way? one more thing i want to know that can i continue these HMG injectins more than 20 days to start the development of oocytes, and my IVF center doctor told me that she will start HMG with 600 Potency injection. Is it safe? Please suggest..........
AnswerHello,
With the disorder you have, your ovaries are not being stimulated by the hormones FSH and LH. That is what is in HMG. Since your brain is not producing these, you need to take it as an injection. That is the correct method. Basically, you take the medication until the ovary forms a follicle that reaches ovulatory size. You then take an HCG injection to stimulate ovulation and either have intercourse the following four days or undergo IUI or have IVF. These are natural hormones and are safe if used appropriately.
