Ovidrel vs. Gonal-F vs. Menopur for IVF: Expert Advice

Question
Dear Dr. Ramirez,

I am  considering ivf and am more keen on using the non human derived IVF medications. I would be very grateful for  your opinion on Gonal F when compared to Menopur . Also, would you please let me know about the suitability of Ovidrel for IVF. Is it comparable to human chorionic gonadotropin derived from urine such as Pregnyl.Have you had success with it?

Thank you for your very useful blog.

Best wishes,
R

Answer
Hello R from the U.K.,

Since the development of synthesized fertility medications, I have stopped using the human derived forms.  I use Follistim or Gonal-f, Menopur, Ovidrel and Ganerelix (or Lupron).  I have very high pregnancy success rates for my area so see no reason for not using those medications.  In fact, I think they are more effective if used properly.

Good Luck,
