QuestionHi, I'm La'Ree, 21 f, from Hannibal Missouri. I need some help! Here's a little about my problem. In 2005 my boyfriend and i tried to conceive it took four months for me to get pregnant. and on June 7th i had a beautiful baby boy. we split up in 2007 and i started dating someone new. we tried conceiving in April 2008. i got pregnant in September but had a miscarriage September 29 2008 then the next month i took a pregnancy test and it said i was pregnant. but then 6 days later i started my period and it said i wasn't pregnant. then march 9th 2009 i went to the ER for pain in my stomach and they said i had a mass on my left ovary. i then went back April 12 for pain again but they couldn't find anything wrong and said they didn't see anything on my ovary. so today is May 15th 2009 and i am still not pregnant. i needed to know your opinion on why you think I'm not getting pregnant?
AnswerHello,
You have been pregnant several times, so despite the fact that you are not getting pregnant as quickly as you want, it takes, on average, 12 months to get pregnant. That is, 85% or 85 out of 100 women will take 12 months to get pregnant. Since you last pregnancy was in September 2008, it has not been 12 months. You just need to keep trying.
If by next September, you still have not achieved pregnancy at all, then you and your boyfriend need to undergo an infertility evaluation.
By the way, since your previous boyfriend left you after you had his child, why would you want to have a child with another boyfriend (without marriage) who could easily leave you as well? That would leave you as a single parent with two children!
