Surrogacy Options for Postmenopausal Women: Can You Be a Surrogate?

Question
My daughter needs a surrogate.  I would like to help her.  I am postmenopausal.  Is it possible and what do I need to do in order to do this? I have had 3 children,  55 years old, pretty good health. I went threw the change naturaly.

Answer
Hello Julie from the U.S.,

As long as you have a healthy uterus and uterine cavity, your age, or the age of the woman is of no consequence in terms of being a surrogate.  Age is only an issue for the eggs.  If your uterus is healthy, there is no reason why you couldn't be the surrogate for your daughter and carry your grandchild.  It has been done before.  Your daughter needs to see a fertility clinic/specialist that does IVF and surrogacy.  They will then direct you and help you to achieve this, including checking your uterus to make sure it is healthy.
