Questionwe found out my daughter was pregnant, then 4 days later began cramping and had what they called old blood. They did a transvag ultrasound and only found a yolk sac ( fully intact.) could she still be preg or is this a miscarrage? We suspect that her last period was 8/6/06 ending on 8/14/06.She still has all preg symtoms but does not go back to OB/GYN until end of next week. Will home test still be positive if she has begun to miscarry?
AnswerHi Suzanne :)
Well given that your daughter has an intact yolk sac, this is good sign that she is not miscarrying.
Sounds to me that the cramping, and brown spotting could be what is called implantation bleeding. This is normal to happen in early pregnancy. At times, some women think its a period, because it feels like a period. Usually, implantion symptoms include brown bleeding, and cramping. The bleeding is spotty. If she is having a heavy bleed, then that is certainly reason to be concerned.
If your daughter does a pregnancy test now, if will still likely come back positive. It can take a few weeks, for the HCG level to go down. So regardless, at this point she would have a positive test.
Again, It doesnt sound to me from what you are telling me, that she is miscarrying at all, expecially if they saw the sac in the womb.
Again, if your daughter has severe cramping, and starts to bleed heavily, passing clots, then take her to the ER, so she can be evaluated.
But in the mean time, if everything is going smoothly, tell her to kick those feet up, and take care of herself.
Hope this answers your question, and if you have anymore, dont hesitate to write back :)
