Chest X-ray During Pregnancy: Safety & Timing | Dr. Ramirez

Dear Dr. Ramirez, I just knew that i am pregnant, i had to do an Xray chest to apply for a visa. I need to know if i do an X Ray chest does it have bad effect on my unborn baby. If no what time of pregnancy is more likely to do it?

Hello Sabine,

A chest xray is not enough radiation to affect a pregnancy, fetus or developing baby.  It takes a lot more radiation than that.
