how long will it take to conceive. why is it forming a cyst even after having medicines. what can be further treatment.
ANSWER: Hello Priya from India,
I get lots of letters from India and the most common problem I find is that these patients are seeing the wrong doctor, just as you are doing. PCOD is a difficult problem to treat and requires knowledge and expertise. If you see the wrong doctor, you will be wasting a lot of time. Letrozole is one of the medications that are used for ovulation induction, which is appropriate to use in PCOD patients becuase they have an ovulatory dysfunction, but it won't work if not used right. 2.5 mg of Letrozole is the lowest dose and most PCOD patients will not respond to this level. Often dosages up to 7.5 mg per day will be required. The medication is usually given on CD#3-7 or 5-9. Clomiphene (Clomid) can also be used but again, PCOD patients may require higher dosages than normal such as 200 or 250 mg per day. For the majority of PCOD patients, they will not respond to these medications and have to proceed to injectable medications. These meds are more difficult to use because the response is highly variable and often PCOD patients are extremely sensitive to this meds and respond to strongly. These are meds such as Follistim, Gonal-f, Pergonal, Menopur, etc. You'll definitely want to be under the care of a subspecialist if you are going to use these drugs.
I cannot predict how long it will take for you to be successful, but I would recommend that you go find a real infertility specialist so that it doesn't have to take too long.

QUESTION: hello
this cycle my Dr. gave me fertyl 50mg for five days from 2day of the periods. but this time it also formed cyst "haemorohegic follicular cyst"
what does that means ??
AnswerHello Again,
I'm afraid I don't know exactly what this means. It is not a standard term. A follicular cyst is the cyst that is formed (follicle) prior to ovulation and usually contains an egg. "Hemorraghic" means that there is blood within. Post-ovulation some patients can develop a hemorrhagic corpus luteum cyst i.e a CL cyst that has blood within (also called a hemorrhagic cyst), but I have never heard of a follicle with blood within it.
