Managing Diverticulitis and Chronic Prostatitis: A Patient's Experience

Question
I am presently battling which has been diagnosed as a stubborn but not a serious case of diverticulus which again bothers either prostate or bladder.  Bowel movements are sluggish one day and maybe loose the next.

I have taken cipro with no measurable improvement largely physician feels because I have taken it for long periods for chronic prostatitis.I am now  on tetracycline.  Going into more than two weeks.

At one time for a stubborn infection once could get a shot of penicillin.  Is this still done and if so will it work?

Answer
The old days of one shot of pen are over.... there is so much bacterial resistance to pen, that we need to use these other drugs.  Prostatitis can be a slow resolving infection.  Also, if it is diverticulitis, sometimes we need to add in another antibiotic (Flagyl) to cover one type of bacteria that isn't covered by Cipro/Tetracycline.

Hope this helps...
