Burning Hands and Urine: Potential Causes & Relief for Seniors

Question
My 80 year old diabetic mother has had these symptons 3 times in the past couple years. She is given an antibiotic(NitroFurMaf? sp. 100ml )
Seems to help, but doctors don't know what causes her problem:
Symptoms:  Severe burning when going to bathroom.
          Hands then start burning severely.
(No other symptoms she says, just those two)
Thank you for your help.

Answer
Hi Diana,
I'm not sure about the connection between the urinary burning and the hand burning. Burning of the hands and feet are common with advanced Diabetes. The urinary problem may be Diabetic related as well. She may have a chronic cystitis. It sounds like she needs a more complete work up to determine the causes of these symptoms. Just giving antibiotics, in my opinion, is covering symptoms and not addressing the problems.
