Eye Floaters: Causes, What They Are & Relief

Question
Dear Dr. Aukerman,

I get floaters a lot in my eyes, if that's what they really are.  They are these big white spots that move from the bottom up or from the top and then down only on the sides of my eyes.

What are they or made out of and is there medicine to reduce their frequency?

Thanks.

Answer
Actually you appear to be bothered by lack of tears and are seeing the proteins floating on the surface of the cornea. Get some good artifical tears and use them 4-5 times a day until the omega 3, b complex and multivitamin for seniors helps increase the natural tears. OK?
Most people are low on omega 3 oils which the body uses for the immune system so see if these products that are over the counter are OK with your doctor:
omega 3 2000mg twice a day
High potency B complex twice a day
Multivitamin with lutein and lycopene( seniors)

OK?
