Red Patch on Face: Causes, Symptoms & Treatment Options
QuestionHi!
I have this small red patch on my face, below my nose and above my lip that is quite annoying. It's about the width of a pea - it's not a bump but rather a "patch". It's red and the skin is flakey, and it itches from time to time. It's been there for about a month and I'm getting tired of it :) Do you have any ideas of anything I could do to get rid of it? Thanks so much!
Erin :)
Answercouple bits of information might make me change my mind, but a non-healing ulcer on the lip could be a skin cancer, especially if you have had sun exposure in the past. It could be a prolonged cold sore (herpes simplex) but this should go away within two weeks. With this continuing this long, it is worth a visit to your doctor, for possible shave biopsy if they think it might be one of the skin cancers.
Hope this helps...
