AnswerPUPPP (pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy) is the most common of the itchy skin conditions that occurs during pregnancy. The lesions appear during the third trimester and disappear completely within two weeks after delivery. The pruritic papules are red, and found principally on the abdomen and thighs. In most lesions a marked halo surrounds the small papules and plaques. Symptomatic treatment with antihistamines and antipruritic medications is usually curative. Sometimes, steroid creams can be used to alleviate the symptoms. Ask your doctor if your red bumps are PUPPP.
