Psoas Muscle Recovery After Back Surgery: Exercises & Relief

Question
I would like to know if you have any information on the psoas muscle. I had a herniated disc surgery-decompression and fusion. They went thru my psoas muscle and had a hard time doing so. I am now using a walker due to one quite lame leg. Is there exercise-massage or an answer for this problem.  Thanks for any info

Answer
Hi Burdelle

Yes there are many ways to strengthen your psoas muscles.

From massage and bodywork magazine:

copy and paste this link:

I feel this article to help both you and a massage therapist or friend assist you in your healing process.

This one is a website for runners. What I like about this one is you do this by yourself.

Also type in psoas muscle into YouTube and you will see videos as well.

Another element is nutrition. Omega 3 oil is essential for muscle and nerve tissue. Especially for post surgery patients. Also I use an herbal heating pad www.soulagetherapy.com. Its filled with herbs (cloves and other herbs) that you put in the microwave. Place this on your lower back prior to stretching and it will help with allowing your psoas and surrounding tissue to loosen and recover from the operation.

With a stretching routine by yourself and/or with a partner coupled with a herbal heating pad you will be well on your way to recovery.

To your healing
