Nexium & Stomach Polyps: Potential Cancer Risk & Long-Term Use

Hello Doctor.   I have taken nexium type drugs on and off for a few years for reflux, and i read once that these kind of drugs can cause stomach poplys, if that is true could those polys devlop into cancer as seen in colon cancer?    I dont find a need to take these drugs daily but may take one or two a week and was wandering is this safe to take long term like that?  I also am going to have an endoscopy soon.  Thanks
