Omega-3 and Medications: Safety Considerations for Plavix, Toprol, and Glucovance

Question
I am taking Plavix, Toprol, and Glucovance.  Can I safely take Omega 3 acids.?    I have a bottle of EPA  which has a strength of EPA    850
                               DHA    200
1000 mg purified fish oil.
I am concerned it might make my blood too thin.

Answer
Yes, you can take the Omega 3 acids... no problem.  Depending on why you are on it, Plavix has become a controversial medication.   There are some reasons it is absolutely better than aspirin, and some situations that you might be better not taking it, so be sure to discuss that with your doctor.   You can search CNN, for an article on Plavix that came out probably in March, give or take a month.

Hope this helps...
