Can Stomach Acid Damage Stomach Tissue? | Pharmacology Q&A

sir, my question is if there is any condition in which our acid and enzyme will digest our stomach tissue itself. and i heard that if a man died immediatly after a big meal , there is a chance of digesion of the stomach tissue. whether it is true or not.

die immed after a big meal..... doubt it... but, stomach acid can damage tissue... people with reflux, etc.  also, meds like motrin block the stomach's ability to protect itself and that's why people can get stomach bleeding after taking a lot of motrin.  The pancreas  produces enzymes that are very caustic and when they leak out and damage the pancreas.... pancreatitis.... that can be very painful and slowly damage the pancreas and other tissues.  But, it isn't so acidic that it melts thru tissues like you see on TV
