Fosamax and Heart Risks: What You Need to Know

On CNN today, 4/29/08, there was a report saying fosamax may cause a problem with the heart. Is this true? Also what alternative is there to taking fosamax or any drugs?

You are correct about this information. I read the report myself and found that there is risk of atrial fibrillation. I have included the caveat from the study's authors below:

"But physicians should be more cautious about prescribing the drug for women with only modestly elevated fracture risk and those who are already at risk for atrial fibrillation because of diabetes, coronary disease, or heart failure, the researchers said."
