For the past few months I have been eating frozen grapes. They're a great snack. These are the small purple seedless grapes. Last week I went for my yearly checkup and blood test and the doctor said I was anemic and suggested a colonoscopy. I had a colonoscopy 3 years ago and nothing was found. Could the grapes have anything to do with this anemia?

Dear Catherine, I'm 47 years old, I take 100mg of Nortatriptlin (?) (to control migraine headaches) and have increased my dosage of Zoloft(back in Sept) to 100mg per day. I have dark hair and have a very light complexion. My mother died in 1999 of ovarian cancer, but I've been keeping a very close eye on that. I had a vaginal ultrasound in January. Everything there is fine. I'm usually pretty healthly beside all that.
Answerjo anna;
anemia is a condition where the body is not getting enough iron. it is usually related to excessive blood loss,especially during menstruation,and poor eating habits. it can also be related to other causes such as sickle cell disease. anemia is more common in women,especilly teens and pregnant women. common symptoms may include weakness,dizziness,and shortness of breath. other may include pale skin,cracked lips,rapid heartbeat,hair loss,low sex drive,heartburn,skin itching,chest pain,and brittle,curved nails.
eating foods high in vitamin C helps the body absorb iron from foods you eat.
some medications can also block the iron absortion. ask your health care provider if any medications you are taking could block the iron absorption.
it maybe helpful to have your level rechecked,and ask if you should take iron supplements.
